To all my Scrap Happy & Scrap Hopeful friends out there:
When I was eight years old, my house burned to the ground. Today, I have a single wallet sized photo of me prior to that day. I suppose that is what put this passion for scrappin into me. Now that I have a family of my own, I make it a priority everyday to create memories that will last a lifetime. Somewhere along the way, that translated into scrap-booking.
If you’ve considered scrap-booking or tried to get started, you probably know how it goes. You walk into the craft or scrap store with an idea. You walk around and grab a few papers or maybe a pad, two spools of ribbon, eyelets (though you have no idea what they’re for), a box adhesives, three packs of stickers, a die cut and a stamp, and when you walk out you are positive you have everything you need for your very first page… to the tune of $75. I did that for every page I created for more than five years. Eventually, it was all organized into a very expensive collection, to the tune of more than $20k. As it turns out, scrap-booking can be one of the most expensive hobbies out there. Tack on to that, the need to have a lot of talent and massive quantities of time, and I’ve learned that scrap-booking isn’t for everyone – but, wanting a beautiful book full of memories that will last you a lifetime sure is.
About a year ago, during one of the scrap-book nights I host for my girlfriends in my studio, a couple of my less talented friends asked me if they could just pay me to finish their pages. At first it was a joke, but then it became a great idea. I had been working too many hours, and missing out on too much. Today, I help other people create beautiful memory books in my studio. We create books for weddings, families, special events, gifts, and busy moms and dads all over the world.
